Dedicated Neurological Unit
Our neurological rehabilitation program is a sub-acute level of care with a dedicated Neurological Unit. At North Westchester Restorative we specialize in patients with impairments caused by acute or chronic neurological conditions, such as Cerebral Infarction or Stroke, Brain Hemorrhage, Spinal cord injuries, Guillain-Barre Syndrome, Traumatic Brain Injury, Parkinson’s and other neurological illnesses resulting in residual deficits and disability.
Neurological Rehabilitation Program Services Include:
- Certified Brain Injury Specialists
- Board Certified Neuropsychologist
- Neurologist rounding on a weekly basis
- Physiatrists rounding on a weekly basis
- Full time Speech Language Pathologist
- Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Cognitive Therapy up to 7 days a week
- Balance and Vestibular Training
- Neurological Re-education
- Individual and Group cognitive remediation for all levels
- Community Re-integration with offsite training
- Caregiver support group on a monthly basis
Goals of North Westchester Neurological Program:
- Restore Cognitive skills needed for independence and function
- Regain mobility by building strength and balance
- Improve speech and swallowing
- Manage tone and spasticity to promote functional use of affected extremities
- Provide extensive patient and family education and training
- Facilitate smooth transition to the community
- Maximize participation in daily activities
